Booking a Hoi An private car is simple, but first-time visitors often ask the same practical questions: how long will the driver wait, can we stop on the way, do we pay extra at night, and should we tip? Here are clear answers, based on how our drivers actually work.

Can I add stops?
Short stops on the way – a photo at the Hai Van Pass summit, a coffee, an ATM, a quick visit to Marble Mountains – are normally fine if you mention them when booking. A stop that adds a lot of distance (for example a detour to Son Tra Peninsula on an airport run) changes the route, so we will quote it in advance. If you want many stops, a Hoi An private driver for a full day is better value.
Night surcharge
Pickups between 22:00 and 05:00 carry a surcharge of 50,000 VND (4-seater), 70,000 VND (7-seater) or 100,000 VND (16-seater). It is shown in your quote, never added on the day. Read more in our guide to early-morning and late-night airport transfers.
Cancellation and changes
- Free cancellation up to 12 hours before pickup.
- Later cancellations: 30% of the fare. No-show: 100%.
- Time changes are free if a car is available – just message us as early as possible.
Payment
No deposit is needed for standard bookings. You pay after the ride in Vietnamese dong or US dollars, by bank QR code, or by card. Prices are per car and include fuel, tolls and parking, so there is nothing else to pay the driver.
Should I tip my Hoi An private car driver?
Tipping is not expected and never added to your bill. If your driver went out of their way – waiting extra, helping with heavy bags, finding a great lunch spot – a tip of 50,000–100,000 VND for a transfer, or 100,000–200,000 VND after a full day, is a kind gesture that is always appreciated.
Child seats, luggage and pets
Tell us the number and size of suitcases when booking so we can match the right vehicle: a 4-seater takes 2 large suitcases, a 7-seater 4, a 16-seater up to 8. If you need a child seat or are travelling with a stroller, golf bags or a pet, mention it in your request and we will confirm what we can arrange for your date.
